HISTORY, ART AND ARCHITECTURE
The Hotel Palazzo Piccolomini in Orvieto is characterized by the historic-artistic beauty of the building, protected by the Belli Arti, which belonged to the papal Piccolomini family from the end of the 16th century until the death (1905) of Countess Maria Cristina Piccolomini.
The recent restoration carried out by the current owner, Soc. AGO s.r.l., has brought new splendor to the various centuries-old structures, from the refined façade overlooking Piazza Ranieri to the underground rooms dug directly into the tufaceous rock, without neglecting the elegance of essential lines and contemporary comfort and style of a charming hotel.
Staying at the Hotel Palazzo Piccolomini, you immediately realize how history, art and architecture magically merge in this place full of charm: Renaissance, medieval and Etruscan environments follow one another in a surprising way inside with views and evocative details of Orvieto.
The location of the hotel is ideal both for the interest aroused by the historic and characteristic medieval quarter of Orvieto where Palazzo Piccolomini stands and for the ease of access. In fact, the hotel can be easily reached by car despite being just a few steps from the central Piazza della Repubblica and the Duomo and is very close to the modern and suggestive lifts and escalators, which, starting from the Foro Boario car park, on the slopes of the Rupe, lead directly to Piazza Ranieri, in the heart of the ancient city.
